🌊 About the Artist
I’m a retired nurse who discovered pottery as a simple hobby—something creative to enjoy in my spare time. What began as a quiet passion quickly grew into something much more. For about 8 years, pottery became a thriving business, fueled by my love of working with my hands and creating pieces that bring people joy.
When the world slowed down during COVID and art shows and festivals came to a halt, I stepped back and entered a new season of life—one that is more intentional and peaceful. Today, I consider myself semi-retired, focusing on what I love most: creating meaningful, one-of-a-kind mugs inspired by life on Ocracoke Island.
Today, I create in a slower, more meaningful way. My mugs are available in limited quantities, and each one is made with care, intention, and love for this island. The techniques I use require a time investment of 5-10 hours per mug just for design and painting. Along with drying time and several firings, it may take a total of 3-4 weeks to complete. They are mugs that capture the soul of this island.
“ Memories You Can Hold.”❤️ Why I Do This
Over the years, I’ve met so many wonderful people—through our rental home and through selling my work—and one thing is always the same: people don’t just visit Ocracoke… they return to it.
These mugs have become a way for visitors to hold onto those memories—of sunrises, fishing trips, quiet beaches, and time spent with family.
